“Fabulous week in Tulum!”

We had a fabulous week at Villa Mariposa in Tulum. The on-site caretakers were lovely and the two meals they prepared for us were delicious! The information Veronique (the owner) provided was fantastic and the recommendations were spot-on. We enjoyed meals at Casa Cenote, Blue Sky, Zamas and Celti (where we had a truly memorable dinner!) We also enjoyed going out to the reef with the Casa Cenote Dive folks and loved snorkeling in Cenote Manatee where, honest to god, we saw a crocodile! We also visited both the Coba and Tulum ruins. Perhaps best of all was spending afternoons relaxing under the palapa, listening to the waves and wind, and watching the pelicans dive for fish:-)

“Great Vacation Home”

Three adult couples spent 8 days at this home. It is exactly as described , and even a little better. The property was very clean and well maintained. The kitchen was adequate and the staff kept the dishes done as we cooked breakfast a few times. Dinner was ready when we arrived late the first night and it was chicken fajitas, and it was excellent. We ate a lot of meals at the three restaurants on the beach, all within walking distance. I would recommend them all, the pizza was great, the margaritas were fantastic, and we got to know the staff and felt like home. The beds were comfortable and clean. We felt very safe. There is a cenote within a short walk. We used taxis for transportation, and it was very easy and never had a problem going anywhere. I highly recommend this home for a nice vacation.

“Gorgeous home on private beach”

This home has three large master suites and was perfect for a get-away for three couples! The location is excellent, sited on its own beach and nearby several beachfront restaurants and a local cenote. Very private and well equipped, yet still close to the stunning Tulum Beach and all the offerings there. We would love to return for another get-away with friends or family!

“Breathtaking home”

This home is amazing, from the moment you step in the views really take your breath away. Step outside your porch right into the water where you can swim, snorkel and kayak. Views of the water from every room and even while laying in bed. We had the best time and the location is close by wether you drive or have a cab pick you up usually within 5 minutes after you call. The caretakers are wonderful and if you get a chance have Nery make you a home cooked meal which you will not forget (she even cooked a vegan meal although she had never done so and it was just as good if not better that restaurants we ate at. Veronique the owner was wonderful thru the whole process answering every possible question I had and gave the best recommendations to everything to do. Make sure you take the 2 minute walk to the Cenote as it was a very cool experience specially when you consider is so close to house. We were blessed with good weather all week long but always made sure we had enough time to come back to the house and spend time in such beautiful surroundings. Cannot recommend this house enough as well as the area!

“Beautiful place, quiet but very accessible to the action if you want it”

Your place is great! Very nice bedrooms and interesting architecture. Outside spaces also very relaxing and great to have a private beach place to sit. We really enjoyed Villa Mariposa and the area, particularly how it is much quieter away from the Tulum beach area and certainly Cancun. Really enjoyed being close to the cenote and enjoyed the patio and drinks at Casa Cenote a number of times. Really enjoyed Chamicos at Soliman Bay as well – great place to sit. Luis and Nery were very nice and very thorough. Taking taxis everywhere worked out well too.

“Paradise”

The house was delightful, the ocean breezes kept us from overheating, and the location was quiet and relaxing. It was everything we had hoped for and more.

“Fabulous”

Our family of four really enjoyed our stay at the Villa Mariposa - it was even too much space than we needed, but it sure felt nice not to be in each other's way on vacation. The house is right on the beach, so whoever wanted a dip could have it any time, while someone else could have some peace and quiet with a book in a hammock. The house is very well maintained, the local caretakers were there when we needed them, and stayed discreetly away when we wanted privacy. The breeze and the sounds of the ocean lulled us to sleep every night. Tulum is minutes away, and we had fun visiting the Mayan ruins, cenotes (there is one down the road), and Sian Ka'an Nature reserve. The whole experience was very relaxing and we felt safe and comfortable. Thank you to the owners for letting us use their little piece of paradise!

“Superb, well-designed, spacious and relaxing villa”

We stayed here for a week over the Xmas period and we loved every minute of it. The villa is spacious, with well-spacd out large bedrooms, each with en-suite. The central area is gorgeous and looks onto a little beach with hammocks and beds, and once you find a path through the stones into the deeper part of the sea (not hard), the swimming is wonderful. One of the best places we have stayed in, and the housekeepers were friendly and helpful. Near to the Cenote for fresh water swimming, diving and snorkelling, and plenty of eateries nearby, although with a fully-equipped kitchen and outdoor BBQ, you might choose to eat at home.

“Such a lovely, relaxing place to enjoy the beach!”

My husband and two of our friends spend 5 days at Villa Mariposa. We so enjoyed the house and especially the restaurants located very close to the house. We swam in the local cenote, hung out on the beach in front of the house, found a lovely "secret" beach with a fun place to eat and snorkel, and enjoyed the local Tulum ruins. Luiz and Nery were great caretakers and cooked a lovely ceviche dinner for us. Thanks to Veronique, Luiz, Nery and Roger!

“The Perfect Choice”

Villa Mariposa was the perfect choice for our girl's vacation. We loved everything about life on Tankah Bay - the house and all its amenities, leisurely mornings, walking the beach, kayaking in the bay, relaxing under the palapa and yes, the hammocks were delightful. One night we watched the sunset and the moon rise from the rooftop.
Close to home we made great memories and enjoyed great drinks and food at Casa Cenote and Blue Sky, and Casa/ Manatee Cenote is a magical place just steps away from the villa. If you walk south along the beach you'll be rewarded with a gorgeous stretch of sand and see where the cenote and ocean meet.
We rented a car so took trips into Tulum for groceries, shopping and lunch in the pueblo, to the ruins and an afternoon at Ziggy's on the beach. At the recommendation of a local, we spent a late morning/early afternoon at Xcacel beach, which was gorgeous. The cenote there is small but refreshing.
Luis and Nery are lovely people who added so much to making our week both comfortable and carefree. They keep the grounds and the villa beautifully, and we asked them to cook a couple entrees, salsa and guacamole early in our stay. Everything they made was delicious and the leftovers were great. We really appreciated that Nery did the dishes for us.
Communication with the homeowner both before and during our stay was excellent, and I really appreciated Veronique's assistance setting up surprise massages at the house for my friends. The description of the villa and its amenities is accurate, and its location provided the peace, tranquility and space we were looking for.

“A glorious home base”

All the good things people have said about Villa Mariposa are 100% true. All 3 bedrooms are beautiful, spacious & removed enough from the main area to make everybody feel they had their space. Being 'slightly padded' Canadians, we were concerned how we'd fare without air conditioning but it was fine. The ocean breeze graces every bedroom and the fans help too. You might want to bring earplugs as the jungle is not always quiet - lol. There are a few birds who are rehearsing to be alarm clocks and it made us snicker most mornings as they did their vocal warm ups.
Luis & Nery are wonderful caretakers & their kids are polite and sweet. I wish we'd had Luis cook for us but we never quite got our act together.
We love the friendly, quiet road where Villa Mariposa is situated and having security at the entrance just enhances how safe the area is. Strolling down to Blue Sky Pizza for a meal or exploring Casa Cenote were convenient treats.
Our group ranged in age from 17 to 61. All of us love to get out and explore but I must say that the best days were spent at Villa Mariposa... the days when we'd wake up and leisurely have coffee on the patio, letting the sun and sea greet us. Eventually we'd grab our snorkel gear and swim out in search of another stunning adventure. We saw stingrays, eagle rays, hundreds of fish... we'd stay out watching for hours. Eventually we'd drag ourselves out of the water and flop into the hammocks under the palapa with a cold drink. Lunch, siesta, then more lazy beach time watching the sun go down. True peace.
Thank you, Veronique & family, for sharing this magnificent gem with us.

“Relaxing post holiday family vacation in a great house and setting!”

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Villa Mariposa, a comfortable, well maintained beach home, overlooking the Tankah Bay. It is tastefully decorated, beautifully reflecting the culture of the setting. It matched the description and photos and exceeded our expectations. The owner provided us with helpful information and tips in advance of our arrival and was easy to communicate with throughout. Luis and Nery were wonderful caretakers. We explored the Tulum area by car and made trips into the village, the playa, ruins, restaurants etc. But we also enjoyed our time relaxing at the house and could have used an extra day doing just that! The hammocks under the palapa were prized spots and just steps from the bay, but the house is laid out in a way that gives plenty of privacy and options, inside and out, for our family of six (5 adults and one teen). Yes, the beach and bay are rocky as described, and we followed instructions to bring water shoes and made use of the kayaks. Possibly due to the tides or time of year, the edge of the bay was a bit closer that in the photos, but that was not a problem! (There are plenty of other beaches to visit in the area for a different sort of beach day if desired.)
If we return to the Tulum area we would definitely hope to book Villa Mariposa again!
