“Full Sized Villa Delivers Spectacular Views and Totaly Relaxation”

Just returned from a week-plus stay and I write this review to confirm it is everything described in the listing and so much more. The Villa is certainly clean, well-maintained and the Veronique, the owner, provides guests with all the information needed to make this not only a stress free rental but offered us specific advice that allowed us to tailor our stay to our preferences.
Our party was two adults and two teenagers with a preference to relax and hang out in a comfortable place. Once we stocked up on groceries at the local supermarket we found little reason to run around the Yucatan, we were already enjoying a huge property with 3 beds, 4 baths, very solid wifi, multiple hammocks, a private Palapa, a massive common area with tons of seating and loungers only steps from the white sand beach and calm waters protected by the world's second largest barrier reef.
So many things are just right about this place, a few examples: the beds all face the ocean (small but important detail), massive windows for views to no end, outdoor shower for fast transitions, two sea kayaks for your unlimited and private use, outdoor gas BBQ to grill pungent food, windows in showers, tons of natural woods and stones which make the property feel tranquil and moderate the temps, lovely landscaping...the list goes on.
I would recommend this property because the fact is we got excellent value and the property and effort put forth by the owner and the caretakers merit a thriving business. Just don't book it when I want to return, deal?
Obviously when you book something like this from the states you naturally worry to varying degrees that something might go wrong or that you must investigate the rental in due diligence to make sure you don't arrive to find an empty lot or a locked door. The main thing I can offer you in this review is that will not happen, the place is legitimate, well-managed and its everything we wanted to enjoy a large comfortable Villa in a really interesting area.

“A truly relaxing experience in a beautiful environment.”

My husband and I spent my birthday week at Villa Mariposa with a few friends at the beginning of May. The house itself is absolutely perfect. As you can see from the pictures, the backside of the house is a wall of windows. The windows all have the ability to open (and are screened) and bring in an incredible breeze with magical ocean sounds. Lounging both in the house and on the beach (just a few steps away from the house) set the tone for an incredibly relaxing trip.
The beds and linens were very comfortable, the house was very clean (and stayed clean throughout the week with the help of the house keeper that comes in once a day), and the kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, blender, etc. for those that want to do some of their own cooking.
The house is located about 10 minutes (driving) from Tulum Pueblo, 15 minutes from Tulum Beach and about 15 minutes from Akumal.
There is a refreshing and pristine cenote located about two minutes walking distance from the house. There is a small fee to swim in the cenote, but it is completely worth it. The water is crisp and beautiful.
There is a pizza place and another small restaurant located within walking distance from the house, but other than that you'll need to travel by car to get to restaurants, grocery stores and other attractions. (And I wouldn't recommend traveling by cab. We made that mistake once and had a cab driver charge us $75 USD to travel to the grocery store in Tulum Pueblo and back.)
We very much enjoyed our stay at Villa Mariposa and would definitely recommend it to both friends and family.

“Paradise found”

Our family of 5 loved villa mariposa. The house itself was even better than the pictures, the setting, decor, views were all fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We loved being in the tranquility of secluded tankah bay yet only 15 minutes drive to more full on action if that's what you crave. The house is well set up for relaxation, plenty of seating areas, hammocks, beautiful lounge area and wonderful bedrooms etc but there is lots to do if you want to explore. We used the kayaks-great fun, swam in the cenote, swam with turtles at akumal, toured the Mayan ruins at coba and tulum, shopped for Mexican souvenirs, walked along the many beaches in the area, all of which we'd highly recommend. The food was fantastic, we ate in, had nery and Luis who look after the house cook for us ( they also clean, make the beds and wash up daily which makes it super relaxing too) and we ate out often. All delicious.
We felt safe at all times and fell in love with this area. We travel often all over the world and rarely go back to the same place twice but if we were going to buck that trend this would be it.
Villa mariposa is lovingly looked after and we would highly recommend Veronique and Bob's place, which we found to be a little slice of paradise, thank you for such a memorable vacation.

“Paradisiac retreat. Quietness. Beauty”

Perfect location. Stunning views. Quiet unspoiled bay. Great birds. A short drive to Tulum. We loved the "natural" pool right behind the villa called Cenote. Perfect in the early morning or late in the afternoon just before enjoying sunset from the 360° roof top terrace of the Villa. Nery cooked for us great mexican delicacies in the evening while we were enjoying the views with a glass of wine. Perfect gateway with all necessaries amenities to feel serene and relaxed. Stable Wifi.

“Relaxed private beach front luxury home - great family place”

Beautiful home on beautiful beach. My wife and I, with my niece and her husband and 8 year old daughter, very much enjoyed a week here. Caretaker did a great job keeping the house clean while not getting in our way. Snorkeling is quite good if you're willing to swim 20-25 minutes out to the main reef, otherwise its just ok. Beachcombing is great. Air con in the bedroom would have been welcome a few hot nights in July, but we were fine sleeping with just nightshirts and the screens open to the wind.
